Everything is a rollercoaster: friendships, emotions, happiness, sadness. Life's your free ticket to the rollercoaster ride (that will either make or break your life). This is the reason why I tend to enjoy my moments and grab whatever chance I get because we never know when they'll be available to us again!.
I believe that everything happens for a reason. We build relationships, we break it apart. We make friends, we forget about the old ones. We laugh, we cry. We're happy one moment, sad the next.
Life isn't all about misery. It can be loads of fun, memorable, wonderful and amazing. In the end, it all depends who you surround yourself with - who you wanna be friends with.
There are times when life throws jokes at us, teaches us lessons and bitch-slaps us. It's all for the greater good. As long as we let life teach us and as long as we're dressed for the rollercoaster ride, we're good to go!

Yes, It has ups and downs and scary times and joyful moments. Only thing that is controlled by you at points is whether you hold on or let go. I prefer to hold on and see what the ride has in store.
I am holding on. It has never crossed my mind to let go, in one way or another. I do not want to let go because I don't want to throw something nice, amazing and wonderful away. It will be a damn good ride!
I'm sad to say that there are friendships I might have to let go atm. It's hard to go on with friendships if trust and loyalty towards each other is in question! (It isn't an easy decision, but until a better solution can be found I am stuck with it.)
That is unfortunate that you might have to let some friendships go. It is so needless of a reason that the issues occured. Maybe in time things will become different with friends. I hope they improve for you.
Friends should give opinion, but after that is through they should be there for support. To catch you if your choice was wrong. To comfort you if the fall hurts. Not to control your actions or do things behind your back. To play people as pawns for results they want to see not that you want to see. True friends are hard to find. Sometimes you pull alot of weeds before the flower starts to grow.
